Field notes from Isla Colon:
After Caligo illioneus oberon, this species is the most common "owl butterfly" on Isla Colon. It comes to fermenting bananas, and can often be found perching on trees near the bait. This butterfly's bright yellow hindwing margins and mammoth size make it difficult to miss as it flaps through the understory.
