Field notes from Isla Colon:

Along with E. ello, this is one of two species of Erinnyis I have found on Isla Colon. Of the two, alope is much less common, appearing only occasionally at the lights. It tends to perch at a distance from the light, where its cryptic coloring makes it hard to see, so this could contribute to its apparent scarcity.
