Field notes from Isla Colon:
This large, robust moth is found from Mexico south through Central America. There is one record from Panama on the BoLD Systems site, representing the southern edge of the insect's range.
This individual came to a mercury vapor lamp set up in a small clearing in the middle of old-growth rainforest. I have not seen this species anywhere else on Isla Colon.
